    Longest race attendance

This year will be the 18th year that I have taken part in the Whinberry Naze race on Boxing (first one was in 1990).

What's is the longest anyone has competed in single race?
i.e. Same race, every year, no gaps?

Who has read the wonderful book "Up The Ben Wi' Eddie" by Jimmie Jardine?

His biography "Eddie Campbell. An Appreciation" lists all his 45 races from 1951 to 1995 plus his 46th ocassion in the 1994 Ben Nevis Centenary event that he organised.

I believe this poem was published in the 1996 Ben Nevis programme.

The + 3 that Eddie trefers to is the three non Ben Nevis Race Association runs:

    1. The cancelled 1980 event,
    2. The training run in 1980 for those who didn't race that year,
    3. The 1994 Ben Race Centernary run.

What about consecutive victories? The late Pat Campbell won both Eccles Pike and Rivington Pike nearly ten years running (I was going to change that to ten years on the trot but thought better of it!)

I believe a guy called Malcolm Jones ran the Snowdon Race for 30 consecutive years since its inception in 1976 - he may have done more by now - not sure.

    Re: Longest race attendance

In my case probably not many contenders as I like to try new races. But it'll probably be Round Norfolk Relay, would need to check how long a run I'm on at present.
Hoping for a far more successful 2009
