    Swimming

Why are the swimmers swimming so many Natioanl and Olympic records at the games?

Have they built the pool a few metres short!

One of the swiimers in an interview mentioned that the pool is 3 metres deep from end to end, which makes for fast times for some reason . Oh and they wear those frictionless body suits too.......... of which the customised USA version looks so naff:

It's obvious what's going on, and it's got nothing to do with new suit technology.I've seen clips of the swimming on the news, and nearly all of the events I've witnessed have posted times close to the world records, even in heats.

Even the team in last(Men's 4x100) swam in the same second as the previous record.

Come on FINA start drug testing your swimmers properly!

Sharon Davis said the suits had compression panals to prevent muscle fatigue in the core area, may be it might just work?

Any benefit of the panels will be offset by the energy used in stretching these panels.

Sharon Davies is using the suit explanation to extinguish people suspicions.

I personally believe swimming is in a worse state than cycling!

P.S Anyone notice anything strange about some of the swimmer's faces?

I thought the panels were used to reduce the coefficent of friction with the water??

Something similar to the way a sharks skin reduces the turbulence created when the water flows over the skin

having read the above it appears Mr Staggers comment about muscle fatigue also seems correct

Are you saying then that now, if world or olympic records are broken, its all down to drugs? Remember Mark Spitz had a Village People mastauche which would have caused serious drag - swimmers don't have those anymore and its making for faster times.
