You also make the mistake in assuming doping practises and drug testing are consistent from one year to the next.
    "make the mistake"

whats this a military strategy discussion???????

If your not willing to take on board that engineering advances can improve performance then thats your issue.
You'll be telling us aero bars on bikes and deep section wheels are all a gimic as well?

No I wouldn't apply it to cycling. Although saying that many of the improvements in cycling records in the 90s(Due to Obree's innovations) weren't just the results of aerodynamic advantages.

Since the swimming technique has changed little and the suit is worthless in terms of time, one has to assume the athletes are more powerful than before.

Actually watching the black and white footage of the last lady (Anita Lonsbrough) to win gold in the Olypics her breaststroke 'technique' regardless of swim suits was infinately different.

    Re: Swimming

I think the point I'm making is the suit is worthwhile in terms of time.
You are stating it isn't and the improvement in times is down to the use of drugs

I've found this on the net from the 12 april this year.

"There have been 19 long-course world marks set since Speedo's LZR Racer suit was introduced in February. "

Now you can conclude that in the 6 weeks since the intro of this suit and this info there has been an increase in doping or the doping products being used.
Or the view that I have that the 'suit' has indeed made a difference and that the level of doping has remained similar?

The longest standing women's world record is Janet Evan's 800m freestyle, from the late 1980s. She never had a special suit.

At that time she was about 17 and weighed 43kg. Now we've got women that are significantly heavier than this approaching her times.
