Al,
Don't waste your money. These are essential wear for triathletes, esp those on short courses or sprints but they just don't give the security you near on a fell shoe, not even a XC event.
If its security you were looking for, NB used to do laces that had lumps in them every inch or so and they worked really well.
I use them sometimes and I like them. Anne and I both used them on the SLMM this year and they were just absolutely fine.
There have been a couple of times when I thought that my shoe was going to come off when I've stood in a bog, because of the give with the elastic, but it hasn't happened.
"And the winds blow and the sky looks cool / So I make my home in the clouds"
They're great for a triathlon changeover or if you can't tie your shoe laces. They don't give as tight a fit for fell shoes as I would recommend though. I'd be worried about turning my ankle if I used them on a severe gradient. Ask yourself if you really need them.
Fitness can't be stored. It must be earned over and over, indefinitely.
I've used them for several years now. But I don't use the "widget" part - I just tie the elastic laces up! Miles better than any laces that come with shoes (especially the naff Inov8 laces that come undone at any hint of moisture).
