Race day visibility conditions were as per the photos, just gorgeous. And though the great unwashed out there find it hard to believe, you can hasten through the mountains appreciating what is around you as you go (though as a relative newbie you may need more practice before you get the full effect!)

i must say, the scenery itself would be a reward there, i agree about the practice, would ruin it if i was falling at 32 feet a second through not concentrating

More photos now available via the race website at www.aiguillesrouges.fr

Click on the "Galeries Photos Ici" link which should take you off to www.galerie-chamonix.com and then click on the Trail des Aiguilles Rouges link.

500 photos and not one of my ugly mug!

Also 200+ shots on the Galeries site of the UTMB if anyone is interested.

    Re: Trail des Aiguilles Rouges

The 2009 Trail will be held on 27 September 2009.

The website suggests that the course will run from Vallorcine to Servoz.

I believe that the first year the Trail was run from Servoz to Vallorcine. Whilst I don't have any details of that route, common sense says that it will have coincided with this year's course all the way between Servoz and Lacs des Cheserys after which it will have gone "straight on" to Vallorcine. It may turn out that 2009's course will be 2007's course run in reverse, but the site suggests that a new course is under preparation/planning.

My suspicion is that they will plan something a little shorter than this year's 58 kms and 4,000 metres...........but only time will tell.

I will try and remember to keep an eye on things as they develop.
