I haven't managed to get past the second checkpoint at Ennerdale. Got timed out when I tried 2 years ago. I really wasn't very fit then, but the cut off times are really tight. They do not encourage you to set off steadily at all. (but I won't go on about it!)

There's also no way I'd do it after last weekend - I'd be totally knackered rather than just knackered (happily though)

Ennerdale is at least an hour longer (4.30 as against 3.18 for me).

Don't forget the final climb up to Crag Fell - still quite a sting.

If its dry then trail shoes might not be a bad bet, but up to Green Gable you could do with a bit of grip. Run down Windy Gap would be a bit more bearable with a bit more support than Walshes. Ouch.

Its dry alright, I was out yesterday between Pillar and Gable all the handy water sources on the route were dried up, to give you an idea to how dry it is Blackbeck tarn has gone, did not check the trickle below gable on moses trod but would not be hopeful.

Never found it too bad even when totally out of it as its not very steep and on a good trod, saying that I've never raced up it (never raced up Caw last Sat either )

If it's dry- as in if it is dry.
