    100m world record 9.69 seconds

I've just been thinking about what a fantastic achievement is was by the current world record holder Usain Bolt.

    My question to the forum though, is what time would he do the 100m in if he had;

    A) Flip Flops on
    B) Wellington Boots on
    C) Those boots with loads of fur around them (that Penguin wears) on.
    D) A pair of 6 inch stilettos on.
    E) Morris Dancers clogs on.

My guess is 15 secs in flip flops, 14 secs in wellies, 17 secs in those boots with loads of fur around them, 32 secs in a pair of 6 inch stilettos and 21.5 secs in Morris Dancers clogs.

very interesting this, i'll plump for a faster time in the flip flops than the wellies

    a) 13.12
    b) 13.65
    c) 12.98
    d) 15.43 (they do have stilletto races, see youtube!)
    e) 12.56

think we'll get an answer? could always get someones flat 100 metre time then analyse against the time with each pair of footwear.

Marvellous idea Harry - let's be honest, most people would rather watch the Big Foot Furry Boot 100m race than angling or men's freestyle kayak rubbish.

I think you should add another category where they can wear their trainers, but have to have their laces tied together.
(we threaten that with certain runners who are too fast in our speed sessions to slow them down)
    www.vlaevents.co.uk Fancy something different?

Or they could have their laces tied to the person next to them?

Considering our recent weather the 100m dash in flippers could become a regular summer event too

I think there's a serious underestimate of the potential of morris dancers' clogs. Trefor Owen, clogmaker and erstwhile mate, used to rock climb in them (Cloggy I kid you not) and when there used to be closing time you should've seen the sparks fly as Wakefield Shroggies charged down Horbury High Street after dancing practice! No good if you happened to run over a grate though as you'd whip arse over proverbial and slam into the sets.
    Good days...
