    Cheapest race (per mile)

Just a bit of fun really but what race offers the best value for money in terms of pence per mile (forgetting any prizes etc.)?

Off the top of my head I can think of one that works out at 18.75p per mile (16 miles, £3) but I'm sure there are probably some even cheaper ones. To qualify though, I think they must be recognised races, not fun runs etc..

    Free's cheating!

Hard to beat that unless anyone knows of a race that *pays* you to enter.

All the park run races are free too.

Elite athletes get paid to enter races.
Hoping for a far more successful 2009

Along similar lines, if not so long, Selwyn's Blisco Dash for another seriously good value £1.

It's too simplistic to just look at the number of miles and the price. I think that the value of a race to a runner is a combination of mileage, ascent, and goodies. Goodies include cake, beer, tee-shirts, etc., and the quality of the goodies is important too. You could also include the quality of the route and the atmosphere.

I think one of the best value races is the Anniversary Waltz, given the mountains of delicious cake and beer as well as the 12 miles and 4000 ft ascent. What do you think, GeoffB?

Muker show paid everyone a fiver this year. Can anyone do better than that?
Fitness can't be stored. It must be earned over and over, indefinitely.
