    Parking Near M6

I'm off to the Ian Hodgson Relays on Sunday & I'm planning to share a lift with a couple of team mates coming up the M6. My problem is that I want to find somewhere to leave my car for the day & don't fancy paying the £8-£15 pound parking fee charged by the service stations.

Does anyone know of a reasonably safe/cheap place to abandon my car somewhere between Junct 20 & The Lakes?

    Do Travelodges charge for parking?

Put the following postcode into multimap

    PR1 5TU - Thirlmere Drive (Thats Ironic)

I always park my car here when car sharing to the lakes, its just off the motorway junction and is quite a well to do area. So its great for overnight parking. Plus its just off the main road.

    Cheers

You could come off at junction 34 then take the A683 towards Caton. After about a quarter of a mile there is a layby on your right which is well used by car sharers during the week

There are lots of places in and around the outskirts of Preston/Fulwood but I always use the Phantom winger travel lodge car park - it's right off the M6 at the Broughton/M55 interchange roundabout thingy. Not been clamped yet and there are no signs saying they do.

It's quite easy to find unless your names Darth Domain and you forget!!

Thanks for the suggestions people. I might have to wash my car if I'm going to park it in a "well to do area" .
