I've just realised that i dont actually fancy running 37 miles in the lake district,i'll give it a miss
WOW - this thread has moved on a bit during the last few days!
The mileage, the plan, but especially the mileage!!
Total distance/ascent (for both options, exc. Scotland stage): 106mi, 26,280ft.
yeah, especially the mileage!
The concept is brilliant - the Tour de France is billed as the toughest race in the world, involving three weeks of effort - but lets not forget that fellrunning knocks the stuffing out of your legs a lot more than cycling does (yes, even L'Alpe d'Huez).
Having said that, I did do a Scottish County Tops in 2002, driving between the peaks. The challenge took me just under 10 days (no rest days) and involved an average of (if I remember correctly) about 18 miles and 6000ft of climbing per day. Now I am a VERY mediocre performer so this kind of average should be do-able by a large percentage of the fellrunning populace. It might be a reasonable rule of thumb for an event that is achievable by folk of sub-elite standard!
The 6-day event outlined above looks reasonable: If you remove the rest day you get an average of 21.2 miles and 5280ft - it's manageable! I can see why the rest day is neccessary though, with much bigger distances to travel.

Its a great 37 miles though Fleeter, you would love it!
I've done 8 back to back days averaging 80 miles & 19 mph on the bike with plenty of climbing without much post session pain at all but for me to do the back to back running mileage will be much more of a challenge and somthing I will have to train up for which will make it much more of a challenge for me and somthing to look forward to seeing as I probably won't make next years Mallorca cycle camp.
