Jacket to run AND cycle in?

I run and cycle in the dark and the wet. I am now doing more fell running.

I require waterproof and hi-viz attire for the unpleasant commute to work (West Sheffield to Rotherham).
I also require a light weight FR jacket with good waterproof and windproof qualities.

There are several ways of approaching this but I wondered if anyone had come across a jacket that would serve the two purposes.

A hiviz cycle jacket of choice appears to be:

But Perhaps not best suited to run in.

And a good FR jacket:

Could be used to cycle but with a hiviz belt

Not too keen to part with a lot of cash for 2 jackets, so any wise words welcome.

Some races, particularly long ones, stipulate that jackets must have taped seams. The Altura would probably fail that kit check. The OMM smock would probably be a better all round choice.

From the OMM range, I would suggest the Vail Run Ride Jacket would be best as its designed exactly for what you want to do.

Its the same material as the Kamleika Jacket and Smock, with taped seams and a slightly longer tail suitable for biking and is also hoodless.

From the OMM range, I would suggest the Vail Run Ride Jacket would be best as its designed exactly for what you want to do.

That has no hood so might fail the kit check at some races.

nobbutt have a look at www.montane.co.uk they do some good stuff

2 jackets I picked out depending on budget (there are lots more but both of these are taped and have hoods)

firstly their Atomic DT which is waterproof to 10,000mm hydrostatic, weighs 240g and costs £100

secondly their Event Halo Stretch which is waterproof to 30,000mm hydrostatic, has stretch material in it to make it more comfortable leaning on a bike and weighs 350g but costs £225

personally I'd go for the second. if you cycle every day its completely waterproof and I find event fabric more breathable than goretex and the amount of use you'll get from it makes the cost justifiable if you have the dosh!

It's suitable for both running and cycling, packs down small, is light and does what it says on the tin

although I also have a Montane featherlite and an OMM kamlieka smock - seem to be collecting them like trainers

Weight is 290g for a large in stuff bag!

What me? counting the grams? OMM next week? Don't know what you mean.

Good jacket though, designed for both running and riding, arms bit longer for the bike and has a drop tail at the back. I don't think you could get a better specced jacket for the price, although I wouldn't turn my nose up at an OMM smock either.
