    No still live in saddleworth but run for calder valley,it's not to far for me to go to train really

    First, best wishes for a speedy recovery AG.
    Second, having followed the link on your initial post, someone else has posted a message that echoes what I thought when I read the article -
    'Why did they have to carry him 4 miles, when an ambulance can easily get to the housing estate just below Stoodley Pike?'
    Over to Cragg Vale doesn't sound like the obvious route choice for a rescue, but I'm sure there must have been a good reason. As someone who often runs in that area, and is always likely to get injured, I'm interested to know: what was it? Had you sustained your injury on the top, I'd have guessed at gradient being the reason, but it sounds as if you'd already begun the descent, so in that case I'd have thought it was as easy to carry on down.

    To be fair, it was more like 2 miles than 4...they had the landrover waiting at the top of the track to take me down the rest.

    It would have been far too steep to take me down from Stoodley. I'd only gone about 30m down from the pike anyway!
