Thanks to everyone who's donated to Shane's cancer research page so far - if you still haven't - here's a reminder of the link...

No one seems to have picked up on the fact that there may be a race on for the 1st sub 24hr winter Ramsey.
I reckon the weather might have the last laugh on this one. Winter Ramsay needs pretty ideal conditions for a successful 24 hour round. you've got to be lucky as well as extremely proficient on hard neve. someone will be lucky sometime, but they might have to wait a while.
I reckon that if Al Powell struggled to complete a Winter Ramsay when he was at full fitness, then its going to be a tough test.
There is the possibility of an attempt taking place a couple of days before Shane's in early January ... snow at that time likely to be less consolidated than later on.
Incidentally, in winter the trod route down off Aonach Beag is definately the one to go for unless you have nerves of steel. The prow is an option, as there may well be a well trodden route on it, but the exposure can be pretty intimidating. There are often massive cornices at the top of the slope down - the slope below has a long, steep run-out, so a slip could mean a long and painful slide if on hard nevee. Any of the three descent routes demands care!
There can be only one

It will revert to a thumbnail in a couple of weeks unless you are a registered user. It shows the three descents off Aonach Beag quite well (middle left of the shot)
