There's an element of truth to this DT and, for sure, the shut down didn't help. The trouble with the forum, as has been said before, is that facebook and twitter are taking its place and to a degree are much more user friendly. 80% of my f/b 'friends' are fell runners/outdoor hill billies and, although I'm no great twitter buff, its about 80% there too. With f/b and twitter you get brief (please note Alwaysinjured ) and by and largely positive burps of what everybody is up to - there's rarely any arguing the toss going on and, yeah there's a whole bunch of inane crap too but its really easy to ignore. The forum on the other hand reminds me of the Monty Python argument sketch at times.
All the same the forum provides a fantastic archive of really useful stuff and, oooh, at least 51% of its regular users aren't completely insane
