I'm having the Clash - London Calling as my next choice. The fact I bought my first copy (two vinyl, one CD so far) in London on its day of release doesn't have that much influence on me. The record (Malcolm McClaren always called then records) is the best complete recording from what for me is probably the most important time in popular music history (I was 16 in 1980, not 1950)

Miao! I fear our tastes may part: but I have hopes there will be one more common artist.

#3 Duane Eddy "Have 'Twangy' Guitar, Will Travel"

Released in 1959 (Jamie 3000) and co-written with Lee Hazlewood it spent 82 weeks in the Billboard Hot 100 and transformed how instrumentals were viewed in general, the status of the LP relative to the single and the power of the guitar in particular. DE is unquestionably the most influential rock guitarist. He played a Gretsch 6120 on the album (when Buddy Holly was playing a Fender) and was the first rock artist to list all the session musicians on his records.

I tell you this Andrew because you were not yet busy being born!
