To think this came out in 1966!! It laid the foundation for so many strands of modern music and it still sounds like its beamed in from another planet, even today.
My favourite Beatles track, vocals recorded with Lennon laying on his back in the studio so I believe

There's one Beatleband song I like. I always think it's called something akin to one day in your life, but it's not that one

But do you still play your vinyl collection, properly on a turntable whilst supping a malt and puffing a cigar?

If not, I would be happy to take it away - leaving you the one disc - I have a feeling it is a collection well worth having.

And Neil Young is god, by the way!

The legends about the recording are multiple. My favourite one is that they hit on the idea of recording lennons vocal being played back through a rotating Leslie speaker in order to try to simulate a yogi calling to the faithful.

Of course, they were soaking up as many influences as they could at the time. Pinching ideas from Yardbirds, Beach Boys, Stockhausen, Ravi Shankar and so on. Its like cooking. You grab all the ingredients and make up a stew...but of course, only geniuses will make something nice!

A great song it is too, always seem to use it in Beatles documentaries as it's a bit of a tearjerker
