Why walk when you can run.
The last 3 climbs in Long Mynd may not look big compared to, say some massive lumps in Scotland, but they are mighty tough....and more likely to be run on by the average joe uk fell runner.

I struggle to understand Broad Scottish. oooops! ascents not accents
last two ascents pendle, tears were welling up in me on the second to last, knowing that i had another to go after that
go play on the m 6, now, how does that sound
The final ascent in the Kaisermarathon takes some beating - 1000ft/mile, profile here. This is the course for next year's World Long Distance Mountain running challenge.
Biriani for endurance, pathia for speed.
Correct Rudolph.
The year that Mr Rigby set the record, I survived my first Jura. After the early hills and sliding down the previous descent, I looked up at Pap 1 and stopped. A vertical mass of rocks. But with a closer look I could see individuals clambering over the rocks, so it was possible. I visited Cramp on that ascent and suffered as the race progressed. That is the only hill that has actually stopped me in my tracks during a race.
1. There is a race that goes up Kirk Fell from Wasdale head. The SW ridge of Kirk Fell is probably the longest sustained climb (700m +) anywhere in Cumbria (Wainwright thought so as well).
2. The SW ridge of Glamaig, in Skye is even steeper (total steep ascent about 650m). There is a race there also.
I havent done either race but going up Glamaig in my Cuillin round felt quite hard.

This is the Wasdale Head BOFRA race, which climbs 2400ft in 1.2 miles, think that will be hard to top. Described by Wainright himself as an 'unrelentless treadmill.'
However, i did an ascent in Canada called the Grouse Grind, which climbs Grouse Mountain, just north of Vancouver. This is 2800ft in 1.8 miles

Up the mighty Wharfedale 'arriers!
The 2nd Pap on Jura is a belter.....Infact Jura all told, all belting ascents, even the last little sting in the tail ascent prior to dropping down to the road - Brilliant stuff
Consider yourself lightly; consider the world deeply.
