Missing Ankle Ligaments!

Just seen a physio with my recurrent ankle/foot problem. After a quick look and feel he said that out of the 3 ligaments on the outside of my foot I have one left! The others have been snapped off over the years in various running epics. They have attached but not in the right place, no wonder it hurt! It's mainly stable until I tip it too far then pop. Getting an xray and he's shown me how to strap it and told me not to stop running. Apparently I can teach the remaining ligament ( the one in the middle) to do a bit of the work the others usually do. I have a few other feet problems but nothing too bad.

Has anybody else done this? Did you get it sorted?

Yes I have... I have torn my anterior talo-fibular ligament while fell running. It won't re-attach without an operation, but I am training the other ligaments and muscles to multi-task and it seems to be working

Mind you, doctors did say I would not be fell running again, but I am, about 6 weeks down the line I was able to start running again, gently... and it is getting better. I don't strap it...

I think I really did the damage to mine 3 years ago to the day during the Auld Lang Syne, I was trying get past Batman and went over with a loud snap, Robin stopped but Batman buggered off. I didn't get it looked at and was racing within 6 weeks but it's never really been just right. Might have to become a road runner.

Mine went with a snap as well... and the docs suggested that running on uneven terrain wasn't a great idea. I am trying anyway. I don't think you could have done much though. The ligament either re-attaches itself or it doesn't...

Excellent! That will do the trick. I shall bring my flick knife and sharpen it to gain access, as long as you bring the stapler, we have a date!

I remember it well - the Big Man was going strong that year and left me to pick up the pieces as usual - Dark Knight my ar*e
