Anyone know how many 24 hr rounds have there been in winter (going by the BGR definition of Dec 1 - Mar 1)?

Presuming you mean sub 24. I seem to remember seeing a list with very names on it, perhaps half a dozen.
Hoping for a far more successful 2009
You fancying a bit of a trip round this winter then Iain?
Yiannis posted this http://forum.fellrunner.org.uk/showt...?t=6032&page=5 from which you can see that only Martin Stone has so far done it in under 24hrs. John Fleetwood has also done it but in a time over 24hrs.
Looks like a short list of two
Don't think I can manage it this winter as I'm working in the US then on a stag do in Germany, and maybe working down South, also the full moon coincides with the US trip.
Being out the other night with a full moon and clear skys has really inspired me to have a go though.
Going to start recceing it again and see, probably next year.
Not sure what would definitely be different in winter than in summer. Potentially the section from Gyder Fawr to Tryfan could be interesting if iced but easy if the gaps are filled in with hard snow. Having the bogs on the Moelwyn ridge frozen over would be nice
I don't think there are sections that would need a different line in the way that the winter BG does.
Yeah some compacted snow may help, but the main issue would be bogs.
I was thinking I'd do it the same way that I did my summer round. Start mid afternoon at the road section off Cnicht, get dusk ariving on Nantlle ridge, then have darkness through to Capel and do Siabod to the Moelwyns in the remaining light. That would mean I'd have the glyders and Tryfan in the dark but it didn't get light on my round until well into the Glyders.
