    Did you pass the group going the other way taking the dry option

    I wondered what that tractor was doing up there

    From Cut gate to Snake pass we only saw 2 people and a dog. They soon disappeared though so I assume are buried in a bog somewhere.

    from outer edge to swainstones - does anyone drop down and follow the river - or do you stay on the top?

    I don't know but after last weekend we were think of dropping down and following the river between cut gate and outer edge as well

    I've thought about this route before and came to the conclusion it woulds would only be of benefit if walking/running in to a very strong Westerly.
    It's certainly no shorter but is probably better underfoot but does have lots more climbing.

    cheers ian - hoping to get out that way this weekend, have a look - i guess the climb out at the other end would be pretty depressing

    I have tried it and it takes longer than the watershed route.
