As a fellow Springfield Strider, I can assure you that Paul Jeggo does live in Chelmsford. He often runs with the Saturday morning group on the hills of Little Baddow and Danbury (altitude 108 metres) where we sometimes put on a "fell race" with 400 feet of climb in 1.4 miles. Not sure that's entirely where he gets his ability from, though!

Yes, the Danbury hills: I haven't run there, but I have cycled over them. Then there's the Orion Harriers fell race in Epping Forest. And I lived for a while in Leigh-on-Sea, and used to run out to Hadleigh Castle and sometimes beyond, on the slopes above the Thames estuary: these are real mountains; I know that, because they were used for the mountain-biking at the 2012 Olympics. So when all is considered, Essex is a major venue for fell running. Which of course doesn't stop Mr Jeggo doing a lot of travelling around to other fell running venues to pick up M50 or M55 prizes.
In his lifetime he suffered from unreality, as do so many Englishmen.

Anybody else on this on sunday?

A small contingent of forumites last year (myself, PeteS, AnthonyKay).

A solid tough race, not much overly technical ground, but steep and could be slippery given the weather.

it's a Welsh Champs this year, so there might be a few extra runners.
    I'll be there!

Also: there is parking at Church Stretton school which will be free, rather than in the valley itself.
    ....it's all downhill from here.

However registration is in the National Trust Pavillion in the valley?

Any idea if the presentation is in the pavilion or the school?

Numbers will also be swelled by another 3 clubmates of mine. Depending on what turns up from the likes of MDC/Eryri, I think we could be in with a shout for a podium place in the team score. Watch out Mercia...

Yes - I'll be there. 3rd week in a row at Carding Mill Valley and 2nd race of 4 this month (plus a 100km sportive next week.)
Hoping to improve on last year's time when I struggled in the wind. Could be slippery though unless conditions have improved since last week.

Not me this time. I seem to have exchanged my calf injury for a hamstring job.

Tempted, but right calf giving me a bit of jip and with Ras yr Aran next week worried that the steep descents will wreck it.
Will make final decision tomorrow evening.
Visibility good except in Hill Fog

Car parking is at Church Stretton School
Registration is at the Pavilion in the valley as usual.

It's a bit of a walk, but saves a bit of money and puts less pressure on the car parking in the valley.
