    Treadmill oil

Does anyone know what type of oil is best to lubricate a treadmill. Some manufacturers recommend their own which seems overpriced. There must be a generic type.

WD40 spray can! does it just as good as any oil the manufacturers can sell you!

But, my sister actually sprays vegetable oil on their treadmill.

Grease the surface you actually run on? That could be a fun workout!

Actually read the instructions to something I bought! Now there's an idea.

You seemed like a sensible person, so I thought I would try your idea. I put a new tube of Colgate Minty Fresh under the belt then jumped on it a few times to empty it out. So far so good. I then cranked it up to full speed to spread it about a bit.

Have you ever smelt burning toothpaste? Have you ever had burning toothpaste thrown up the walls of your recently decorated bedroom? That's the last time I take your advice! Thanks a bunch!

Funny you should ask that, but yes.

I think it was the friction that did it in my situation.

What specifications did the manufacturer give?
For under the belt itself I wrould have thought something such as graphited grease, for motor bearings maybe molybdenum oil.
