    Ireland/Northern Ireland runs

The wife and I are going over for the Champs race in April and want to make a holiday out of it, so the usual plan is to go running most days.

    Any areas people recomend?

Probably do one day in the Mournes, but I'm quite tempted to head right down to Kerry and the Macgillycuddy's Reeks area, and then head back via Galty Mountain and maybe a day in Wicklow mountains?

Any other suggestions? areas with low and high level routes would be good?

    Cheers

    Iain

Run up and down a fair few mountains in Ireland, get a bit muddled up where they all were though !!

McGillicudys reeks are good as are all the Mourne range. We did Sleive League that was good and also Mount Brandon, think that was on the Kerry Peninsula.

Mournes are hard to beat. If you're sensible you'll recce all the British routes these use in Mournes eg- Bearnagh, Commedgah-Donard, Mourne Peaks, Spelga Skyline. There's plenty of other good routes to be had around there...

Agree with FM, but in NI would also include the Annalong Horseshoe and the Flagstaff-Carlingford although this may be logistically difficult as it point to point. Routes are on the NIMRA site I think.

Some good routes around the Wicklow mountains too

Keen to see elsewhere, plan is probably Sunday some of the Mournes, don't want to waste day light traveling, probably Annalong horseshoe as we've not seen too much of that, if not Commedagh_Donard, and then was thiking of heading over to Connemarra/12 Bens area (Glencoaghan Horseshoe) and then down into Kerry area for the last couple of days, possibly visiting Galty mountains or Wicklow on the way out.
