Just out of curiosity though, how do formutites reckon this new marathon age related record stands up against Eamonn Coghlan and others regularly banging out sub-four-minute miles at the age of 40+ ?

Danbert's training is all geared to beating me at Parliament Hill in the National Cross Country.

    It's ridiculous really isn't it?

We travel all the way to the National Cross Country Championships in London, have a 2 night stay over, and what for? So we can have a race against some blokes from East Cheshire Harriers, Oldham and Royton and Salford Met

It would be interesting to see how far the age records fall over the next 20 years. At the youthful end, they are falling slower and in less amounts, so the only feasable records are the older categories. Eventually you will get a sub 3.30 hour 90 year old on the marathon

Interesting to know what leads you to that theory. Would you hypothesize the same about the number of heart beats each of us has before it packs up?
