    British Le tour winner ??

Dave Brailsford has targeted a British winner of the tour de France within 5 years
This is in conjunction with the new "Sky" sponsored cycling team which has Dave Brailsford as it's head man and will consist of 25 mainly British riders.

    A tall order IMO,any thoughts ?

Not a problem if Cavendish could just get to grips with his climbing.

If they adopt the same attitude as the track team I don't see why not. There are some great young riders in the Academy. Cav will win plenty of Stages and I reckon at some stage the green jersey but he hasn't got a snowballs chance in hell of winning yellow... Don't forget though we already have a Grand Tour winner in Nicole Cooke.

Presumably Dave Brailsford has identified one or more riders who are presently in the under 23 acadamy as a potential Tour winner. Cavendish is likely to comtinue to be a multiple stage winner and challenger for the Green jersey for the next decade but he is signed up for Columbia-High Road for this season and next.

Brailsford is already planning a team built around Cavendish for the road race at the 2012 Olympics when we will make sure it is a flattish course to give Cav the best chande of a Gold medal

You HAVE to climb to win the tour...

With Brailsford in charge they are bound to do better than the ANC/Halfords fiasco in the 1980's. I think only 3 riders finished the Tour, the riders didnt get paid and the team folded shortly after.

Malcolm Elliott who rode for the team and finished the Tour is still riding in Premier Calendar races

Not at the required rate of knots to pick off 6 and 7 minutes which wins tours. Or are you taking the P*ss?
