Robert Millar - Tour de France King of the Mountains 1984
I think he got 2nd (and KoM) in the Giro as well.
But to be fair, Ady's right that apart from Rober Millar (and the aqueducts) British climbers have been few and far beteen...
Unworthy of you.
Another rumour a few weeks ago was that Roger Legeay, long time Directeur Sportif of Peugeot/GAN/Credit Agricole was going to be invovled in Team Sky
Yeah I heard that... blah blah blah... well, we shall see if there will ever be a British team pulling it off... There should be if they play their cards right now, with all the emerging talent left right and centre.
I was going to mention Millar as well, but that is the only British climber I could come up with...
Interestingly, and contradictorily, as we have no mountains, the Dutch are usually quite good at climbing...

You need to be able to dance uphill like this to be in with a chance of a big tour win.
I would have thought that Team Sky would be looking to sign Cavendish in 2011. This would almost guarantee success in terms of stage wins and take the pressure off while they identify and bring on any possible overall contenders.
Even if they could buy out Cavendish's contract with Columbia for next year i wouldnt have thought he would want to join Team Sky as they wouldnt be guaranteed a place on the Tour for 2010.
