I dropped out at Wasdale after 16 hours about 1 and a half hours down on schedule. I am disappointed but conditions were not right and this is an excellent record. I will try again next year. Thanks for everyones support.

At Dunmail on Sat morning, chatting with Wynn (Joss Naylor support) and looking at the poor weather, we came to the conclusion that this was not a day for breaking records. The cloud was right down to the pass, it was raining and there was a strong southerly blowing while Steve was on the Helvellyn section.
    Good luck next time Steve.

Bad luck Steve, felt for you when we saw you going up from Grizedale Tarn (3 of us) only realised it was you after we passed. We had been away at 4am and it was grim good luck for next time

    Unlucky Steve.
I was navigating Dunmail - Wasdale on this JNC and the weather was shite!
Rocks as slippery as hell from Bowfell onwards.
Certainly not a day for records, when everything needs to be in your favour.

Bad luck Steve, not a good day for it.

I'm really glad that you want to have another go.

You are right, Mark's record will be a tough one to crack, but that's no reason not to have a go.
