    Windermere Cycling suggestion.

I was talking to my mate at uni today about bikes and stuff and he suddenly came up with the idea that we should do the coast to coast bike ride this summer.
At first i thought he had totally lost it but i googled it and im now really up for it.
Is there any previous threads for it.....i'll start a thread for it soon dont worry.
    Any good websites.

But first, this easter he said we should catch the train from Preston to Windermere and go for a ride.

I havent got a clue where to go other than along the main road to keswick and back but i dont know if that road is abit dangerous for cyclists???.....any suggestions would be fantastic.

Doesnt have to be road, but cant be serious mountain biking stuff thought because i dont think either of our bikes are made for that.

    Ta.

    Al,

There is a nice run out over Kirkstone pass to the very far end of the valley, turn left and home via the Keswick road. Bit of a climb but an awesome descent that risks melting your rims or boiling your brake fluid. Plenty of tea rooms en route and end up back at W'mere. Good all day event depending on how hard you want to push it.

About a 4 hr offroad route (non technical) can be found on the Evans Ride It site. Warm up riding into Ambleside or take the Bowness ferry to Claife Heights and end up back in Ambleside for tea. Hard riding but easy navigation and great views and can be done on a decent ish hardtail.

pm me if you need more dtails.

Al. Why not run the coast to coast (walkers route) rather than cycling?
