This sounds like fun, ive always fancied a crack at an XC MTB race. Its not far down the road so i think ill watch the first one..see what its all about. Hopefully it wont be all £3000 grand bikes an all the flash gear!
There is a whole range of people entering the events, and they are designed to "gently" introduce people to racing. The "Have-a-go" category is on a less technical route for that reason.
I think its going to be good (well I would) the main course is technically demanding as well as requiring good fitness. Overtaking is an issue in places but not enough to spoil the racing.
Go on enter, you know you want to. Its only £10 and its the only XCO rcing in the NorthWest.
Looks really good that, shame i dont have a car to get there....or a mountain bike!
Think i should invest in one....although i still wouldnt be able to get to the races.....id be on the 'have a go' track though'

www.vlaevents.co.uk Fancy something different?
Is there going to be a single-speed class?
Hit the North 1 was an enduro and 1.5 a cyclo-cross race
My understanding is that future Hit the Norths are going to be under cyclo-cross rules to allow then to take the course up some steps. I'll be happily corrected though. They are good events and a great format. They are possibly planning more events in 2010 so check their website out.
so we are still the only XCO racing around in the NW (waits for a correction)
Yes, we have a singlespeed prize sponsored by Charlie the Bikemonger, its not a separate category though. I would suggest testing the gear you intend to race on.
