correct me if i am wrong but did Ian roberts die in a climbing accident some years ago?
penguins happy feet :w00t:
Struck by lightening in the Dolomites - circa 1978, aged 28.
Second place at Wasdale should ( certainly used to ) get you the Ian Roberts Memorial Silver Salver, for 12 months.
Gents, Not totally accurate, it was late July 1979 and Ian was 29. They held a 2 minute silence for him at the start of the Borrowdale race. In the mid '70s (pre Billy Bland ) Ian held the course record for the Wasdale race - hence the memorial silver salver for runner up position. See his profile in Bill Smith's "Stud Marks on the Summits".
Hi everyone,
First time I've done this one. Does anyone knnow what the terrains like? Would I be best in Mudlclaw's or more of an all-rounder i.e. Terroc's? Any road sections?
Thanks,
Tom.
Combination of tussocky grass, trodden path and firmer sections inc. v. short road bit. I'll be in Mizunos so perhaps something not so aggressive as a Mudclaw? Go figure!
