It's the kids that will benefit most from a good club and coach. To get them there regularly this probably needs to be fairly close to home. Even a "mainly track" club would benefit them in terms of well structured training in the endurance squad.
Lots of junior fell runners actually train on the track and then train off road with parents.
You could then check that club out yourself or even join another fell only club.
Indeed Wycoller, it's quite beneficial for the fell kids to work on the track.
In the Fellrunner magazine that was one of the points Billy BUrns was trying to urge. Do not neglect speed - every discipline in athletics needs it and you cannot develop it much in a 25 year old.
ABD - you're right there is a lot of inter club rivalry and banter but it's all in good spirit - I think all the clubs mentioned here are good clubs, simply because they've got loads of good folk in them.

Our social scene is great, we have a very strong junior section, you'll never be the only one at a race and I reckon it's a fair bet that you won't be the fastest member of the club - so you'll always have someone to chase.....
