    Re: Saddleworth Fell Race

Ah, my first ever fell race back in those heady days of 2006! Though I was no more a junior than I am now, I remember taking the odd tumble on the way down. But think this was more to do with my southernsoftie tendencies than the terrain

Slope is steep, but grassy, few rabbit holes to lose your foot in, but otherwise nothing out of the ordinary...from recollection.

Descent is a beauty mate, naye too crazy underfoot and if like previous years you get run through a private nine hole golf course!!! Crackin course, good ascent, quick pop over from Alderman to Pots n' Pans and then swooping descent - Do It, it's great....Big Plus is The Clarence Pub less then 30 seconds walk from the start

    You make it sound easy.
Heres my view from the back.
Fast start along the road. Steadily ascending through the golf course and fields, it flattens out along the track until turn left onto field below Alderman. A 3 minute run over tussocky terrain before a steep slog upto the summit of Alderman. From alderman to pots n' pans is a fairly flattish run with a few short cuts where you can avoid extra ascent. Round the monument and descend steadily until you hit the steep descent. Stagger from here down to the fields again. Through the field and golf course back out onto the road. The hardest part a flat 100m run in to tanners mill. Slump over get some water and bobs your uncle

    Great event this morning.
Thanks to all who put this event on and marshalled on the hill.
Good to see plenty of juniors out running.
