    Re: James Thorn

Good day out for a race today, really enjoyed it. Last year I ran it in my trail shoes & slipped all over on the descent, so this year I ran it my fell shoes & it was hard under foot (& after all this rain) Forgot how hard the ascent was, the head on wind made it tough. At least it blow me downhill to come in 4th.

    Re: James Thorn

First time I've run in that area. The climb was a bit long and brutally runnable in parts, wasn't it? I was chuffed with 36th because it represented quite an improvement over Chunal. Racing on consecutive days seems to bring about quite an improvement in performance. I should do it more often then I might sneak into the top half of finishers. Many thanks to Des and helpers for providing the opportunity over the three races, and for organising the weather so expertly. We were lucky today.

Thanks to all for the picture links. They are excellent.

will there be any overall "Series" results on this 3 day extravaganza?

Daz, no sooner asked than done.

Final series report with results and links to pictures is here. If anyone notices any naming errors or can fill in any of the missing names, please say. The photographed final results are not ideal, as will be apparent by the inverted upside down image of Des's sticky labels. Thanks again to Des for a great three days.

Nice write up Nick, it was good to meet you. The series was great fun but I paid for it today - I could hardly put one foot in front of the other walking home from work.

    Re: James Thorn

Steve, what are the rules about first claim clubs an' all that? As Fell Ponies are not my first claim I would sort of feel obliged to run in Stockport colours in such a prestigious event. Not sure what Daz would feel about that or what the event rules are regarding mixed club teams.

Oh dear, this is going to sound horribly smug but I never felt any effects. They were too short for me to feel as though I'd done anything. Now, how much faster than I did you run? That'll be where the difference lies. (I'm not saying I could possibly have run any faster than I did, mind.)
