    Mini Amex first race

Hi My daughter wanted me to post this, she has been running for about two weeks now only a mile or so but off road, she has asked, if she can race nothing daft, she is 16 just gone, any ideas?? Lancashire area or journey up to lakes would be ok, would be grand if i could have a trot out at same meeting, ie a senior race same day place?
    Going to try again....

Why not create some races for everyone, you and your daughter organise them?

Perhaps a word of caution? My daughter is 16 and has been racing for about 6 years. She trains intermittently these days (ie not when wet or cold) but goes out by herself in hilly terrain for about 45 mins a few times per week, plus racing every 2 weeks or so.

In most races she normally comes last, sometimes by some way. Fortunately she is strong willed !!!! and keeps going. Some FRA races, especially champs, test her to the extreme and she won't run them anymore.

The girls (and lads) in this age group are amazingly fit compared to your average teenager and most train quite seriously. At school my daughter is the fastest girl in her year at all distances over 100m.

Encourage mini amex but make sure that she doesn't get put off at her first race - its a difficult age to start at.

If she understands what she is taking on then the Kettlewell race would be a good start. Crosses the Wharfe but is quite wide and shallow, then along the river bank and up the fell. Probably a walk up for her. Then a fast descent which can be slippy if wet.

    Good luck to her.
