    Witton Weavers Way

32 miles loop from Blackburn heading down to Edgeworth then back over Darwen Tower.

    Having a crack this Saturday.

    Anyone done it?

I did it in January when it was quite wet under foot. It took 9-45 so we finished in the dark. We did not know the area so went wrong a few times.

What - and missing the Mid Lancs at Witton where you could set the crowd alight with a 400m run

Got round in just over 7 hours (the Witton Weaversthat is, not the 400 metres ).

Not the most waymarked of long trails I've done and a bit illogical in route choice (perhaps the weavers of olden days had a poor sense of direction) but has a good variety of terrain from forest tracks, lanes and back roads to moorland trail.

Does anyone have any other suggestions / experience of similar waymarked long distance trails?

MoutnainMan thanks for the PM will be in touch.

Mary Townley Loop? as in the relays but do it all

or look on Bowland runners site- they have lots of challenges - but these will not be way marked.

or check out LDWA as they put on loads you can enter as a runner. One favourite of ours is Anglezarke Amble in Feb. Again - some are waymarked others less so

Possibly because the route is made up from 4 small loops that have been joined together to make an extended trail.
