Ascent is around 800m. It's a hell of a climb. Normally the route does the horseshoe and back. I think it's rated as 4.5 or 5 miles. Not sure on the age limit, I'd ring Mike Blake, his details are probably in the calendar. I know last year it was won by a 15 year old, but it was a shortened version then due to weather.

    Ye,gonna be doing this one.
a classic race ,one of the best short races around.
Route:from Nant Peris ,up the tarmac road and on to the main footpath up to the summit.head northwards from the summit onto an obvious footpath along Bwlch y Brechan to the bottom of foel goch then take a right and follow a sheep trod along a grassy spur in a southbound direction, over a couple of stiles down a steep section and back on to the path you came up (by the foot bridge) and back down the same way to Nant Peris.all the footpaths are obvoius so navigation is quite straight forward

Gonna be doing this one too, it was my first ever fell race back in 2005 and loved it! Thrilling long descent, though with the shortish grass will be slippery underfoot if wet (obviously!!). I've heard that some years Mike B likes to reverse the above route so that the steep tricky descent directly off Elidir Fawr plays more into his legendary descending skills!

Considering this but i don't know, i might just play it safe and go to Gargrave Show. How rocky is the descent? I've got to be careful at the moment i'm on a post injury wind-up.

Will be there for this one, will get a few runs in this week as this flu seems to of nearly buggered off :-)

Looking forward to the descent of this one!! hope it's similar to Hebog, or more technical!!
Will be glad to get back to grass route runing again after Snowdon and the Trial. Cant beat the classic get-together with fellow mountain goats hehe!!
    See you there ;-)

May do, looking at Wearsdale though.

Descent a bit rocky on the first bit off elidir, then on the narrow ridge, steep grass, odd rock, then a rocky/boggy/slabby path to finish.

Basically big climb, then decent and traverse, then traverse path and down the ridge and down steep grass to the path you run up on.

All this is providing the full course is ran, which hasn't been ran for a few years.

    Re: Elidir Fawr

Wouldn't have considered doing this a few days ago as I've done very few races this year, most of them short and easy, but I enjoyed the climb at Y Garn at the weekend (despite coming last!!) so I'll try to get over
