    Races around Chamonix

Anyone know of a website where I can find races around the French/Swiss border.

Going to Annecy/Chamonix in mid July and would like to do a few races if possible.

    On this site

    http://www.lebipede.com/exe_cal/main...cafi=&end=true

enter 74 in the 'département' category and 'juillet' for the 'uniquement mois de' one.

Don't forget that if you're a member of a UKA affiliated club you need to get permission from UKA before you can race abroad! (if I read it right of coourse)

    http://www.ukathletics.net/competitions/rules/ - rule 4, section 5.

What a load of nonsense. Is it any wonder we don't want anything to do with UKA?

To be fair david, that rule has been in place since a long time before UKA were formed! I got bollocked for it once about 20 years ago! No one takes a blind bit of notice about it anyway!

UKA, AAA etc, it's all the same thing just the name changes. Stupid nonsensical rules.

Do you think that if everyone who wanted to do a race or two while they were on their hols wrote in asking for permission, that UKA would grind to a halt?

FITC, I'll be in France in the summer.

9th-16th Aug I'm between Tours & Angers & 16th-23rd Aug I'll be between Caen & Rouen. I'm sure the family would love for me to do a race on their holiday . I'm not fussy about the surface or type of running.

Will I need some sort of doctors note?
I've just decided I don't trust you anymore.

There usually isn't much going on in France in August, but there's this 10k race in Vignats (somewhere near Caen) at 5 pm on August 18th.

As for the medical certificate, it's better to be safe than sorry, as there can be some 'jobsworth' type people in charge of races.

A certificate including the information below should suffice.

CERTIFICAT DE NON CONTRE - INDICATION A LA PRATIQUE DU SPORT EN COMPETITION
(MEDICAL CERTIFICATE PROVING APTITUDE TO THE PRACTICE OF SPORTS IN A COMPETITION)

    Je soussigné(e):

certifie que son état de santé actuel ne présente pas de contre-indication à la pratique du sport en).
