Luke Appleyard (Wharfedale)- quick on the dissent
Its come down a bit in keswick this morning but now bright with sunshine.
A squall line came through Loughborough a bit before 2pm: a few minutes of absolutely torrential rain driven by vicious winds. I was indoors at the time. I don't know the exact speed at which it was moving across the country, but I imagine it may have crossed the Long Mynd an hour or two earlier; it would not have been nice to encounter that on top of the Mynd during the LMV race!
I went for a walk a bit later in the afternoon. The bridleway up to the Outwoods had a fast-flowing stream down the middle of it, and the Woodbrook was in spate.

In his lifetime he suffered from unreality, as do so many Englishmen.

Yes that hit here just north of Cov whilst I was in the shower, so about half 1.... probably the most torrential bit of weather I’ve seen in this country.
Had a veritable monsoon about 1.00 whilst I was having lunch. We've just had another at 10.30 after some smaller but notable showers earlier.
I'm taking the MTB for the morning commute. Storm debris and mud will no doubt abound...
