    Shoes for Rab MM

    Hi,

Never done any serious fell running before but need to buy some shoes for the Rab MM, wondered if anyone had any ideas as I need to go out and buy some. Heard Innov 8 are good but not sure which one. Is it just dependent on the conditions on the weekend?
    Thanks

models such as the mudclaw 330 and 270 will be great for the rab, the differences are that the mudclaw 270s lighter and uses sticky rubber which will have slightly better grip than the 330 but the 330 will be more durable and take more of a pounding. The 270 shoe also has won the rab 2007 and 2008 another shoe worth considering is the mudroc 290 and (280-my personal favourite) 290 uses the endurance rubber with a strong upper quoted as the ultimate off road shoe, the 280 is a stripped down racing version using sticky rubber so will have better grip. more info here http: http://www.inov-8.com/Products.asp?PG=PG1&L=26
I ran and ran until my Muscles burned and my veins pumped battery acid, ....And then i ran some more.

In the interests of balance try some Walshes too. You might find they're a better fit, which is important if you're going to be wearing them for a while

go for comfort above anything else - no point having a super-grippy pair of racing shoes if they tear your feet apart after 10 miles.

I've ran long fell races in trail shoes and they've been great. Roclite 315s were great for Borrowdale, although I did end up on my arse three times, so maybe I'm taking sh * te.

    Christopbarrett where are you based?
You need to go to a good specialist shop and try on different makes and styles.
As Zoot says comfort is the most important thing when your on your feet for 4 hours+ but be careful that you dont end up with a shoe that is too built up because your more likely to turn an ankle especially if your contouring off a path.

I know what I would choose but then again I may be biased

I m based in Newcastle upon tyne, START fitness in town sell loads of models of innov 8 gear. Not sure if they have any specific fell running experience though. They certainly have loads of models to try.

ALSO Whats the situation for waterproof trousers, leggings / pertex / waterproofs? Do you need proper waterproofs for the RAB?

    Thanks again,

If they do loads of inov-8 stuff why not try the mistlite shell 210 and the mistlite pant 130. they were very popular at the lakeland country fair on sunday, pu coated with rip stop nylon, they also include a hood. they even have buckles for whistles.http://www.inov-8.com/Products.asp?PG=PG5&L=26
