9.71 and you come second, what will happen when Bolt improves???
Absolutely awesome
He only ran 30m in the semi and then warmed down. Can he run sub 9.50?
Poacher turned game-keeper
wow. Powell gets bronze finally some reward for years at the top.
Now then who fancies a bet on Bolt running sub 19 in the 200
Trying to plod up hills every day slightly faster than the day before
I think his 9.58 was sensational - but I also think it's close to his limit.
He had a great start and pick up - unusual for him - so I think he practically managed the perfect race.
He might squeeze out a few more hundredths, but I'd be surprised to see a sub 9:50 from him.
As for the 200m - a new WR maybe, but sub 19 is a huge ask as it would mean practically maintaining top speed for double the distance.
Well done Jessica Ennis.
I'd also like to say a well done to Gerald Phiri - a Zambian 100m runner who got to the semis.
I first saw him in around 2003 at Pendle in a National Young Athletes fixture - he looked mustard then running around 11 secs - he was U15.
A Sheffield athlete as well as Jessica Ennis I think.
