Oh yes indeed. There's a gang of us from Helsby RC sgned up for the A race. I'll be helping with the car parking at the start as well. My objective is to get past the start of the B race before they're started. I've not quite managed it the past 2 years: As I get near them the whistle goes & they're off. I then have to queue while they cross the next 4 stiles before Beeston Castle.

For those who don't know it this is a great race along the Cheshire sandstone ridge, finishing in Delamere Forest. The A race is 17 miles, B race 17km, & it's organised by Deeside Orienteering Club http://www.deeside-orienteering-club.org.uk/.

Update: the A race is nearly full. 174 entries, 190 places. There are still plenty of B race places.

I like the first bit best: Duckington to Beeston, up, along & down the sandstone edges in the trees. The B race doesn't do this bit.

The second section's not so good: fields mostly, but still good running. The climb up to Rock Farm is the hardest of the race, steeper the higher you climb.

Rock Farm to the end is good too, although the climb up Yeld Lane is a killer. You may not have done this, as the race route leaves the Sandstone Trail temporarily to avoid running across the A54, which the local constabulary reckon is too busy to marshal. Yeld Lane crosses it on a bridge.

Thanks for the nudge - I've stopped faffing and entered.
Daz - if you liked the bit from Rock Farm, you'll love the first first hour to Beeston, as Splatcher says.

It's a good one Daz, think you'll like it. Will have to try and get a few long runs in now for training. The Tavern today definitely helped.

recce'd Rock Farm to Beeston Castle and back tonight - beautiful rolling Cheshire farmland, sun setting over the Clwydian Hills - I actually preferred the run out with Beeston Castle and the Peckforton Hills in sight much of the way - does anybody know if the race has ever been run in the other direction?
