I'm not advocating a boycott of Scotland - I was just starting the debate. I would be more in favour of a Boycott of the US!

I tend to agree with Biara on the gesture of humanity - it might actually do a lot of good to send out such a message.
My main concern is that it would be wrong if we start to release all murderers and rapists in similar circumstances. This could be a can of worms.

The problem is, we do not know if this is true as no one was allowed to question any of them.

It may not strictly by Govt - but the Kennedy Clan are pretty much part of the establishment - otherwise he may have ended up in deeper water than the young lady he deserted 40 years ago.

    Fair point.

Weren't they flown home to prevent them being caught up in it all just because they were Saudis? I didn't think anyone was trying to question them - weren't most of them there as business associates of the Bush dynasty?

If an 'ordinary prisoner' is diagnosed with a fatal illness/condition do they usually die in prison. I've no idea and had never thought about it before.

Another good point WP. I bet Senator Edward Kennedy doesn't think he's a hypocrite. He probably thinks the IRA were fighting for a noble cause, whereas Megrahi is a cold-blooded mass murderer. Daft isn't it?
