    Chafing in gentlemans area

After a recent weatherbeaten long distance event i discovered that my traccy bottoms are not quite suited to the task when wet, and that dispite the hilarity of looking like MC Hammer when the wind's behind me the resulting soreness on my clockweights and inner thighs can no longer be tolerated.

I've ordered some trackster keks and some tights of varying lengths so that they can be used as thermal base layers in winter and cooler running attire in summer, if it ever arrives again. What does anyone else do to get round the problem? any non-lubricant based ideas would be welcomed.

Also do tights take on wetsuit properties and insulate you even when wet?

    Cheers.

Running tights get a little baggy when wet and chaff. Stick to shorts and vaseline. If you must wear tights, use vaseline. Don't be shy with the application amount. Chaffing hurts and the hot shower certainly locates it for you if you thought you had got away with it.

I'm a big fan of lycra for anything longer than an hour or two runs. Plenty of Vaseline as Ady suggests and Sudacrem is your friend if you get the dreaded NAD-chaf

I use chamois cream used by cyclists - last one I got was called Udderley Smooth and got it from wiggle for about £5.

Tell me about it, with reference to my earlier MC Hammer impersonations let's just say i 'couldn't touch it'.

In view of the fact my traccys are about as much use as Anne Frank's drumkit for longer outings tights seemed the best way to go to avoid soreness, i know how effective cycling shorts are for this so i applied the same logic. I think i'll try it without vaseline first though, see how i get on.

Another thing i want to ask is are you supposed to go commando when running in tights? It's just i've noticed that your fruitbowl is on display to quite a degree and i don't know if this is an issue or not!
