    I did try that last year in the race - I walked and ate for a couple of minutes. Still cramped.
    I had noons & plenty of food, Ibuprofen Gel - Ultimately though I think I just don't run and climb enough

    I've come to the conclusion that it's just a 'crampy' event. Flat trail from Pen y Ghent, then a brutal climb

    I remember once being up on Whernside and seeing the runners come up the steep face - no, it certainly didn't look easier than the route I'd just walked up!
    I've run/walked the 3 peaks, walker's route, with my dog, it took me about 7 1/2 hrs! hopefully I can get that down to under seven this spring. Not fast I know, but I'm no whippet.
