anyone know if barden fell up to simons seat (suurounding area) is open now or is it still closed for grouse shooting? planning on going up 2moz for a run and dont want to waste time as did a few weeks ago to find access was closed due to shooting. dave

I doubt they'll be grouse shooting on a bank holiday.
They only shut the moors (or part thereof) for 12 days a year and never on Sundays. From articles in the local press, it seems like there aren't many grouse this year and the estate thinks it is unlikely to use all 12 days. Their webpage - http://www.boltonabbey.com/ doesn't appear to give any details of the shooting days, nor does the YDNP site.
I was up there last weekend - there was a board at the access point with a list of days that it was closed and I'm sure it included weekdays for last week and this week. I could be wrong, but it would be a pain to go up there and find it closed
