    Exclamation Viking Chase

Great North Run is taking place in Newcastle on the same day.
There is likely to be a lot of traffic on the A1 and A19 north bound early morning and south bound late afternoon.

Registration for all Viking Chase races will close at 10:30 am prior to a briefing at 10:35 am. See Cleveland Search & Rescue website for details.

This link http://www.annes-mountain.co.uk/Lordstone.htm has pictures of the hillside used for Viking Chase. The second one in particular gives a good idea, although it is steeper. The older age groups U16 and U18 (maybe U14 - sorry can't remember) drop over the horizon and descend a long way down, probably below the start/finish. There is also a picture that looks back down to the start. A mixture of stone path, sheep trod and grass, plus fantastic views.

    Re: Viking Chase

I hope the timekeepers and finish officials are up to speed!

    U18 10:40
    U16 10:42
    U14 10:44
    U8 10:46
    U10 10:48
    U12 10:50

Seniors are also off at 10:40 which means there could be 200+ athletes out on the course at the same time.

I seem to remember a little confusion at the race presentation last year and the results having to be scrutinised fully before the Junior Do.

Doesnt the seniors route go in the opposite direction from a different start area so it shouldnt affect the juniors. No doubt any problem areas from last year will have been ironed out thats the beauty of the rotation system we get to learn from previous years.

I think you are right on the seniors - it does head of in the opposite direction, but it does also then come back across the routes where the juniors are racing - but I doubt there will be any overlapping.

There could be some confusion where the tail end of the U18s are caught by the front end of the u16s before they get to the point where the courses split.

I am sure all will pass off well.

    Re: Viking Chase

I have spoken to the race organiser to confirm arrangements for the races. In particular to ensure that I have sufficient information to calculate the final points tables in time for the presentation.
Although perhaps unconventional, their systems are well thought through, and I don't foresee any problems provided everyone plays their part. Therefore it is essential that all competitors attend the briefing at 10:35 am.

    Good day up there today.

Thanks to the organisers of the race - and also the Junior Series.

The site is now accessible again, albeit a little out of date in some areas.
Points tables are up to date. U8 and U10 will have to wait.
Unofficial certificates for top 20 available some time tomorrow in 'Previous Years' tab.

What a silly end to a brilliant day.
