Guess he was one of the first celebrity chefs, long before the Gordon Ramsays and Jamie Olivers of this world. I shall raise a glass of finest red to him tonight whilst cooking my beans on toast...
Well, there was Fanny Craddock in the 50's, The galloping Gourmet in the 70's and, of course, dear Delia.
But Floyd was unique. Sadly, he was recently berating himself for paving the way for the celebrity chef and naff cooking games on TV.
Bless 'im, the old soak put his life and soul into the party but the party moved on.
