What I would like some guidance on junior fell running.
My eight year old daughter is generally very active and can go up steep hills treat and I wonder whether there are any opportunities for helping her develop this into an activity that will keep her fit and active and possibly become a more long term interest.
We live in St Helens.
Any info or advice would be gratefully received.
Check out http://www.felljunior.org.uk , which is aimed specifically at young runners. There is a junior race calendar on the main FRA site. There are still some BOFRA races this year, which are excellent for juniors. Starting in January there is the Kendal Winter League , which again has good junior races.
Warrington, Chorley, Horwich are probably your nearest clubs with fell running interests. See Links on the felljunior website.
It is important to use proper fell shoes as they have a stud pattern, which will grip on wet grass. Ordinary trainers are not recommended.
