    2009 FRA Junior Championship

    8:00am 21/9/09
The junior website is back on-line.

The final championship points tables (subject to any queries) are available.
Top 20 certificates can be printed from the 'Previous Years/2009' menu.
The Roll of Honour includes 2009 winners.

U8 and U10 tables do not include round 6, but will be updated soon.

Congratulations to everyone, who took part in this year's championship.
Thanks to organisers and their teams, coaches, parents, and of course competitors.

Next year's races will be published on the FRA and felljunior websites, when they become available.

As you may be aware, no times were recorded at VC. Therefore, if you sort the championship tables by points descending for round 6 (instructions under 'Site/Site Navigation' on felljunior main menu), you will in effect create the results for yourself.

I have been somewhat occupied with other matters , but have forwarded my raw data to the organiser this morning for publishing on the csrt website in the next few days.

I'll add a link, when they become available.

No - I didn't know that no times were recorded - quite extraordinary really!

Only positions are needed for points allocation, so it does save a lot of administration hassle. Is it just a habit/ritual from senior races? Apart from records on regularly used courses, which perhaps no-one is interested in, do we really need to record times? We've formally established there is no such thing as a tie on time in fell races; the finish line officials are deemed judges of fact.

Don't know the answer. An interesting discussion point for the future perhaps.
Start a new thread for the winter.

Wasn't implying waiting, just during the close season.

    Re: 2009 FRA Junior Championsh

    Hi CCR,
My suggestion to start a thread was taken up on the Races sub-forum, so the seniors are now very busy arguing amongst themselves as usual, having failed to notice it was really about juniors.

However, with my systems hat on and having had time to reflect, I think what VC showed is that transposing times can be left for another time e.g. the comfort of home. The speed of producing the prize list based just on positions was impressive, and meant the presentation could go ahead without delay.

To update the points tables for the series presentation, I was running a very similar method to their paper procedure on my laptop. Under time pressure it was so easy to key in just race nos, rather than have to struggle with formatting times.

That said I can also see that with the right infrastructure and personnel it isn't onerous to do everything in one go and be in a position to print full results at the race. I think this is what you did at Coiners (?)

Worth analysing possibilities I think, if only to confirm we've been using the best method all along.
