    Carbo-loading.

Ok, i know this isnt really part of the fell running ethos (fancy word for me) but i dont care.....if it works i'll try it!

Does anybody know the inside-outs of this....how actually to do it?

I read somewhere that about 10 days before the event, cut out all carbs and eat loads of protein...then three days before the event....cut out the protein and go mental over the carbs.

I kind of tried it for the three shires and had a good run...whether it was because of the carbs i dont know.
When i say tried it....i ate a couple BIG tiger loafs during wednesday, thursday and friday before it...but didnt do anything else.

Also.....if im to cut out carbs for 7 days before the event...what the hell do i eat other that baked beans and tins of tuna.
And....what decent carbs should i eat - i know bread, pasta and potatoes are carbs?...but what else is?

iirc there was a thread on similar fairly recently. Search might turn it up - could have been in Long Distance Challenges

By the sounds of things....dont bother cutting out the carbs on the lead up......just eat and eat and eat.

Try it out before your race. If it doesn't suit you you could find yourself running weak from the starving part and heavy legged from the loading - just what you need for a hilly off roader...not!

Brown rice and baked or mashed spuds are great carbs.

    I wouldn't try it - good luck!
